Shannon
Originally hailing from rural northern Nevada, Shannon completed a B.S. degree in Animal Science with Equine Science electives at Colorado State University in 2001.  After college, Shannon traversed the West spending time in Colorado, Washington, Montana, Nevada and most recently settled down in Portland, Oregon. Shannon’s experience with human medical office management has prepared her well to job share with Suzanne in the front office of Willamette Valley Equine.
An equine enthusiast from a young age, or one might even say “horse crazy”, she grew up competing in 4-H, riding Hunter-Jumpers, Dressage, tagging along with friends and trainers to California Eventing trials, tried a little bit of Reining and even rode a horse down the aisle in 2010.  She now lives in Portland with her husband and dog and enjoys learning and practicing Natural Horsemanship techniques any chance she gets.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Shaun Golson, our new ferrier. Shaun has been shoeing horses full time for 8 years. He apprenticed 2 years with Joe McKey and 2 years with Tom Norwood. Shaun is father to 2 sons and uses his Quarter Horses for roping. Shaun will be working beside our surgeon, Dr. Troy Holder, providing corrective trimming/shoeing for our surgery and lameness patients, as well as routine shoeing for our non-critical patients. He is also available and open to taking on new horses, so please call the clinic at 503-678-4225 if you would like to schedule an appointment or ask any questions!
